Careers at U.S. Bank

Dedicated to Diversity

U.S. Bank is committed to developing and maintaining a workplace that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We support a work environment where individual differences are valued and respected and where each individual who shares the fundamental values of the company has an opportunity to contribute and grow based on individual merit.

Representing Our Communities
U.S. Bank continues to thrive because of our strong commitment to diversity and because our employees represent the cultural makeup of our diverse customer base.

  • Women make up over half our workforce and hold leadership positions throughout the bank
  • U.S. Banker’s 2009 "25 Most Powerful Women in Banking" and "25 Women to Watch" lists include four U.S. Bank executives
  • One-quarter of our employees and nearly 15% of our leaders are minorities
  • At least 4,600 of our employees are bilingual, able to serve customers and work with each other  using more than 70 different languages

Eyes on the Future
U.S. Bank is cultivating our next generation of leaders, too. We reach out to diverse students by participating in internship programs like INROADS, an international non-profit that helps prepare talented diverse students for corporate leadership. Our development efforts are also reaching current employees with mentoring programs, leadership initiatives and other opportunities that focus on growing our employees’ skills and abilities.

We also sponsor diversity events through the following organizations:

  • National Urban League
  • National Black MBA
  • National Society of Hispanic MBA

Supporting Our Diverse Communities
At U.S. Bank, we know that diversity extends beyond our branches and workplace to our relationships with the communities we serve. In addition to serving diverse clients, we realize the importance of working with diverse suppliers and becoming involved in our communities.

We strive to create strong relationships with certified minority and woman-owned businesses. These relationships have grown through the years and they now provide U.S. Bank with a wide variety of products and services. In 2007, 6% of our discretionary spending was invested into these groups, and our goal is 15% by 2011.

Greater diversity means better solutions.

U.S. Bank is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to creating a diverse workforce.
